What is Dubai Can?
Dubai Can is a sustainability initiative by the Crown Prince of Dubai that aims to protect the environment by reducing the use of single-use plastic water bottles all across the city. The city-wide initiative encourages organizations, individuals, residents and tourists to use alternatives to single-use plastic water bottles. This will be achieved by encouraging all to use refillable water bottles and water filters every day in offices or homes, and using the free drinking water fountains all across the city. The key objective of this initiative is to create a change in culture and behavior by championing a citywide “reduce single-use plastic bottles” movement to ensure that we make a positive impact on the environment.
PUBLIC WATER STATIONS
Free drinking water stations will be installed in public locations across Dubai in cooperation with landowners. These sensor-enabled, touch fountains are easy to use and provide safe drinking water for the community. In addition, many governments and corporate offices, hotels, schools, universities and other entities are installing water fountains in their premises to encourage a refill culture. A number of Aquafina water stations will be made available to select organisations thanks to Pepsico.
